The 40th annual Marathon of Hope took place virtually on Sunday, September 20th to celebrate Terry Fox and raise money for cancer research. Due to COVID-19, Team PRiME members ran individually rather than together.
Dr. Christine Allen, Associate VP & Vice-Provost, Strategic Initiatives and PRiME faculty member, described the run as "good healthy fun and a great cause." Other members involved family — Wei Ye, a lab technician in the Sidhu lab, ran with her husband, and David Philpott, a graduate student in the Kelley lab, completed a 10K.
Team members Amanda Clifford and Christine Misquitta had personal motivations: Christine's father battles stage-4 renal carcinoma, while Amanda's brother is an Ewing's sarcoma survivor. The PRiME team surpassed their $2,000 fundraising goal through generous donor support.
