adMare BioInnovations and PRiME Collaborate to Translate Academic Research into Life-Changing Therapeutics

adMare BioInnovations and PRiME Next-Generation Precision Medicine have announced a partnership to support the creation of Canadian life-science companies and therapeutic products through precision medicine research and commercialization. adMare will partner with PRiME and U of T's Innovation and Partnerships Office to identify research and emerging technologies that could be translated into new therapeutic products.
Dr. Carolyn Cummins, co-Director of PRiME, said the partnership represents an important expansion of PRiME's mission to help researchers take the initial commercialization steps necessary to bring research advances to patients.
An initial R&D collaboration is already underway: Dr. Rebecca Laposa's lab and adMare are developing novel small-molecule therapeutics designed to block specific metabolic processes in cancer cells. Dr. Claudio Sturino, Senior Director of Chemistry at adMare, expressed enthusiasm about advancing the approach. adMare currently manages 28 portfolio companies that have secured $1.4 billion in risk capital and generated over 1,000 Canadian jobs.
