PRiME 6th Annual Symposium: A Day of Innovation and Collaboration in Precision Medicine

On February 21, 2025, the PRiME 6th Annual Symposium convened at the B150 Lecture Hall & Atrium at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. The event drew approximately 250 attendees under the theme "Precision X — Discovery to Translation," creating a forum for experts, innovators, and researchers to discuss advancements in precision medicine and drug discovery.
Key sponsors included Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD Vault), Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners (TIAP), Novartis, and Moderna. Six recipients were announced for the PRiME 2025 Fellowship: Maryam Ali, Chiara Beretta, Sathishkumar Narayanaswamy, Lily Takeuchi, Ruilin Wu, and Yuxi Xiao.
The symposium featured keynote presentations from Bernd Wollscheid on precision medicine and drug discovery, and John Tallarico discussing targeted therapies and chemical biology. Additional speakers covered protein localization, tissue-engineered models, systematic genetics, RNA modulation, lipid nanoparticles, and machine learning.
The 2024 PRiME Fellows delivered lightning talks, and a panel discussion on precision medicine's translational trajectory was moderated by Parimal Nathwani. A poster session showcased emerging researchers, with Yong Jia Jamie Bu winning the Best Poster Award sponsored by Moderna. Leah Cowen, Vice-President of Research and Innovation at U of T, delivered closing remarks.
