Announcing the Winners of the 2024 PRiME Fellowship – Round 2

PRiME is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2024 PRiME Fellowship – Round 2. These outstanding fellows are leading the way for the next generation of scientific innovators, pushing the boundaries of interdisciplinary research in precision medicine.
In collaboration with the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) and Women's College Hospital (WCH), these fellowships support exceptional trainees breaking new ground in molecular biology, genomics, computational biology, and bioengineering.
Professor Molly Shoichet, Scientific Director of PRiME, commended the recipients: "This cohort exemplifies the power of collaboration between the University of Toronto's world-class research community and leading institutions like WCH and OICR."
Emily Majaesic (PhD Candidate) is developing nanopore-based protein sequencing under Prof. Walid Houry and Dr. Jared Simpson (OICR). Liting Wang (Postdoctoral Fellow) is researching brain-penetrating drug-combination nanoparticles targeting glioblastoma, supervised by Prof. Shirley Wu, Dr. Ahmed Aman, and Dr. Laurie Ailles. Abdullah Bin Shams (PhD Candidate) is developing a sensitive early cancer-detection platform using metasurfaces under Prof. J. Stewart Aitchison and Dr. Mohammad R. Akbari (WCH).
